Spring is right around the corner! It’s time to get yourself, and your pup, back out in the fresh air!

Taking your dog to dog parks is a great way to get them the exercise they need, as well as to socialize them around other people and animals. Oakland County has some great dog parks, so we have compiled a list of them for you so that you can try them all out with your pup.

Please Note: Oakland County requires all dogs that enter their parks to be wearing their license at all times, as well as are up to date on all of their vaccinations.

Orion Oaks Dog Park is located in Lake Orion, and offers a 24-acre fenced in enclosure for dogs to run free. The area is separated by dog sizes so that all dogs feel comfortable. The park also offers two hiking trails, a picnic shelter, drinking water, field area, and access to swimming –all dog friendly!

Red Oaks Dog Park in Madison Heights offers five acres of fenced in enclosures for dogs to run, with one specifically marked for small dogs. This park offers Dog Park Ambassadors that serve onsite to make sure everyone is safe and accommodated for.

Lyon Oaks Dog Park in Wixom offers a 13-acre fenced in space with special small dog areas, plenty of benches, picnicking areas, and a training field area if you’re feeling like turning play time into a learning experience.

All three of these parks are free and open to the public. A lot of times cities have their own dog parks, such as the Novi Dog Park, in which citizens of Novi and Northville can apply for membership that must be paid. Once accepted in, members will be given a key for entry into the park. For free options, Orion Oaks, Red Oaks, and Lyon Oaks are the best in the county!

As always, don’t hesitate to reach out to your local pet store if you have questions on this or any pet related topic.
