Benefits and Drawbacks of Rawhide

Rawhide chews are popular treats for dogs because they’re cheap and dogs love them. Traditional rawhides are made from cow or horse hides, and can be good for a dog’s teeth, as they need to chew to promote good oral health. But rawhide has its drawbacks, as well.
The most common rawhide risks come with being exposed to toxic chemicals that may have contaminated the rawhide during its processing stage, being contaminated with traces of harmful bacteria such as Salmonella or E. Coli that can be harmful to both your dog and yourself, and being very tough on a dog’s stomach for digestion. While the risks are relatively small and your dog would most likely be fine, we recommend safer alternatives that are just as good for your dog’s chewing needs.
No-Hides look and feel the same as rawhides, but they aren’t made with unhealthy ingredients and harmful chemicals –in fact, they’re 100% free of rawhides and made with high quality, human grade ingredients that are healthy and easily digestible to your dogs.
Beef cheek rolls are made 100% from the inside of a cow’s cheek, so they’re all natural and digestible for dogs as well.
