Ceramic and stainless steel pet bowls are often dishwater safe and make for the easiest, least messy, pet bowl option.
If your dog eats on a schedule and you aren’t going to be home in time for their next feeding, investing in an automatic feeder is always an option. Some of them have timers, some can be programmed and activated using your smartphone, and others are automatic and refill as the dog eats.
Dogs are meant to eat with their heads down to the ground, so elevated bowls can put some large breed dogs at risk for bloating. For this reason, it is recommended that large breed dogs especially, are fed with their bowls directly on the ground.
For dogs that eat their food too quickly, puzzle feeders work really well at slowing them down, making sure that they don’t end up obese or with any stomach pains or even more serious issues. We like to recommend the Outward Hound Fun Feeder, which comes in different sizes and encourages dogs to play with their food, making them slow down.
For dogs on the go, Petmate collapsible, silicone pet bowls are great. Simply pop them out into a bowl shape for easy eating/ drinking, and then collapse it and slick it on the leash when you’re done.
As always, don’t hesitate to reach out to your local pet store if you have questions on this or any pet related topic.
